Job Title: CDL DRIVER w/ PASSENGER
Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Transportation Coordinator, the Driver is responsible for safely transporting CIR participants to and from activities using CIR vehicles.
Primary Duties:
- Maintains safe environment for participants while getting on and off vehicles and in transit;
- Picks up route manifest, keys and other communications in the transportation office;
- Completes and documents pre-trip inspection;
- Completes mileage log;
- Assists passengers using wheelchairs by using the ramps, lifts and tie-down straps specific to each vehicle;
- Suggests seating arrangements which will promote harmony among the riders;
- Reports transportation violations that occur;
- Refuels vehicles according to instructions;
- Briefs Recreation Coordinators on-site of absences or incidents that occurred on the vehicle;
- Completes post-trip section of vehicle check list;
- Communicates with Transportation Coordinator regarding any mechanical problems;
- Submits completed drop off/arrival times for the route, incident reports and policy violations at the end of each run;
- Returns keys to the office with associated paperwork. If after hours, leaves keys and paperwork locked in the vehicle;
- Maintains licensing in accord with classification (e.g. chauffeur or CDL endorsement).
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Adheres to established policies and procedures.
2. Completes required training as assigned.
3. Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator.
Job Qualifications:
1. The candidate must possess a clean driving record and have an passenger endorsement. CDL endorsement a plus!
2. The candidate must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to be able to interact well with participants, the general public and staff.
3. The candidate must be self-motivated; able to direct their own workload toward agreed-upon outcomes.
Working Conditions:
- Intermittent or cyclical work pressures are periodically experienced.
